Mobile Hydrostatic Pressure Testing

Mobile hydrostatic pressure testing units play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of workers in hazardous oilfield environments. Portable hydrostatic pressure tests verify the current integrity of existing pipes and vessels and signal the detection of leaks and losses of pressure.

Hydrostatic pressure testing begins with filling vessels or pipelines with a liquid that is typically dyed to visually verify any leaks or pressure issues. Next, the pressure testing unit pressurizes the component being tested to a certain pressure, testing for any pressure loss. If there is a leak or loss of pressure, the test liquid helps to identify the location of a leak, allowing the technicians to properly diagnose and fix any pressure and leakage issues.

Hydrostatic pressure testing is the most widely used process for accurately testing pipes and pressure vessels in an oilfield with active equipment and wellheads. Mobile pressure testing helps sustain safety standards and protect field workers operating daily on these various types of equipment. Additionally, the integrity of a vessel or pipeline degrades over time, and without proper hydrostatic pressure testing, the transportation and storage of these vessels become a very dangerous task because of the inherent explosion risk if they fail under pressure.
